The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. He must become greater; I must become less. (John 3:29-30)
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for your Son, whom you sent as a sacrifice for many. Because you love me, you accomplished what I could never do. Thank you for your Word that lives and your Spirit that guides.
Lord, I want your will to be accomplished throughout my life. I want to obey you in my choices, thoughts, and words. Please help me to put you first in all things. Please become greater in my heart, mind, and life, and show me how to become less so that your light would shine through me.
When I have been vain or had selfish ambition, forgive me. Help me not compare myself to others or walk pridefully or in jealousy but look to Christ as my example. Please teach me to celebrate the joy and victories in the lives of others.
May my heart always desire to advance the good news of the Gospel and to see others come to know the saving grace of Christ.
